My Players should be blamed not my tactics- Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said his players and not his tactics should be blamed for their 2-1 first leg Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

City were humbled at the Etihad stadium by the Catalan giants and they now face an uphill task going into the second leg next month at Nou Camp.

Speaking after the match, Pellegrini noted that it was his players, rather than his tactics, that should be blamed for Barcelona’s dominance.

Said he “We couldn’t put three passes together in the first half, There was a bit of confusion and we committed a very soft error for the first goal".
Lionel Messi and Barcelona proved the critics wrong at the Etihad Stadium
He stressed that they did not do until the second half what they wanted to do in the game.

“If we played in the first half in the way we did the second, I think we would have done better. We managed to be calmer in the second half, when we pressed well and did well to hang on. We almost got something from the game.” He concluded.
