Lukas Podolski: Once Upon a Gunner

When next Lukas Josef Podolski's name is mentioned as a football player whether on or off the pitch, his exploits as a player with Arsenal Football Club of England will definitely be remembered despite how short his time with the gunners may look.

Knowing fully well that his first team playing time will be limited next season, the former Bayern Munich and FC Koln star couldn't say no when Galatasaray of Turkey came calling.

Now a Galatasaray player having put pen to paper on three-year deal for an initial fee of £1.8m with future instalments based on the Turkish giant qualification for the Champions League, Podolski will be hoping to better his record of 31 goals in 82 appearances for the Gunners.

Blessed with a powerful left foot, the world cup winner with Germany despite his brief stint at the Emirate stadium will be fondly remembered by fans for his injury time goal against Anderlecht in Brussels when he converted from close range in the 90th minute to give Arsenal all three points.

For Lukas Podolski, the story of this gunner may be once upon a time for many but for the Arsenal faithfuls, it is a case of once a gunner, always a gunner.

Below are some of his memorable time at Arsenal.

  1. Great Player. 122 caps for Germany is no mean achievement. All the best.
