Why the person who broke your heart shouldn’t be the one to fix it

Poverty is the reason why entertainers are campaigning for politicians – Actor, Saidi Balogun

Google Image: Saidi Balogun

Popular Yoruba actor, Saidi Balogun has said poverty is the major reason why most entertainers are campaigning for politicians today.

The ace actor and producer expressed his disappointment with the way entertainers are flocking around politicians in a chat with news men in Lagos.

According to Saidi, poverty is the reason why our people are running helter-skelter, campaigning for this politicians.

"There’s poverty in the industry. If there’s not, you won’t see our people flocking around all these politicians, campaigning, singing and dancing for them."

Saidi noted that he sees no reason why entertainers should be loyal to the politicians at this time when every member of the National assembly have not made any reasonable law on piracy which has devoured the industry.

He stressed that entertainers are supposed to be worshiped and not the other way round.

I think we’re supposed to be worshiped, not worshiping others. Even if a governor holds your hand, he’s supposed to be happy. But now, the reverse is the case,” He said.

Why D’banj Can Never Run Down

Google image: D'banj
My man D’banj is the proverbial cat with nine lives. When you think he is out of the game, he manages to sneak back in.

The big baller reputation of the ‘White Lion’ took a big hit when reports surfaced that he is broke. To make matters worse he was served with a court injunction over an alleged debt case.

It looked like it was lights out for Eja Nla. Without a concrete hit since ‘Oliver’ in 2011, D’banj’s as a music force has been waning.

Even though the DKM album had good songs, the album wasn’t enough to change the unfair perception that D’banj is hopeless with Don Jazzy.

As blows continued to land on him, D’banj backed himself into a corner and like Mohammed Ali landed a knock out punch that has opened the game up for him.

Surely you must have seen The Truth With D’banj, an engaging Q&A session with Olisa Adibua of BEAT FM. If you haven’t, I implore you to do. It is a much needed break from the heavy political content that is online these days.

With thirty minutes making up the first part of the interview, D’banj has been able to turn the tide one again to his favour.

He was charismatic, charming, entertaining, funny and objective when he needed to be. In the video, you don’t see a man struggling with finances. You see a man confident in his God given talent to entertain people.

It’s very hard not to watch that video, and not be swayed by D’banj’s electric personality. Many people who have interviewed him have been moved by his personality. Kudos to the veteran Olisa Adibua for not turning into a groupie.

The thing that impressed me in the video is how D’banj was composed. He didn’t get emotional when he was narrating his version of events that lead to the downfall of Mo’ Hits. He was calm, and even cracked a joke that his brother was in on the plot to kick him out of the label.

What this interview has done for D’banj is that it makes him a good guy again, without making Don Jazzy the bad guy. That was a classy move. No need to tear up old wounds.

Everyone loves D’banj again, and want him to succeed. This change in public perception couldn’t have come at a better time when his tenth year anniversary is at the corner.

D’banj is a hustler, and you can never count a hustler out. When you think it’s over, the hustler has one more trick up his sleeve.

Never count D’banj out of the game. As long as Nigerians have the need to be entertained, D’banjwill always be around. He might not have the hit singles he once had, but when it comes to entertainment D’banj will always be relevant.
It is not yet over for the Koko Master.

P.S As for Dr. Sid it will he harsh to judge someone over an opinion he/she had two years ago. However, if Dr. Sid still believes that D’banj held back his career then that’s a sorry case of one not believing in himself.
There’s a reason why there are stars, superstars, and mega stars. Choose your own, and play your position bro.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was spotted at Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel Ota yesterday January 25th where he celebrated with the Winners family who concluded their 21 days fasting and prayer with thanksgiving service.

For Mr. President, this will be more than just felicitating with the people of God but also a time to seek God's face as the February polls draws near.

However, the social media is awash with different stories over the comments made by the General Overseer of the church, Bishop David Oyedepo during Jonathan visit. Oyedepo was quoted as saying
"We will open the gate of hell on those who oppose you", but members of the church who attended the service said the clergy man only said "All those opposing and against the peace of Nigeria, God would open the gates of hell to them".

Bring Back Alex Song, Thiery Henry Urges Wenger

Google image: Thierry Henry

Arsenal legend Thiery Henry has advised Arsene Wenger to re-sign Alex Song from Barcelona as he believes the ex-Arsenal man will help boost the team’s performance as they push for a top 4 finish.

Henry who is currently a pundit with Sky Sports said Arsenal need a strong defensive midfielder to shield the back four and he believes that the Cameroonian is the right man for the job.

It will be recalled that Song left the Emirate stadium for Nou Camp in 2012 but failed to impress and was loaned to West Ham United in August 2014.
While making a case for Song who has impressed so far since joining West Ham, Henry said he is the type of player you want in front of your back four.

“Song is the captain of the boat. He protects the back four. You need someone to dictate, put players into position, make little fouls by kicking someone- like Claude Makalele used to do.”

Arsenal fans will not forget Song in a hurry after he left unceremoniously to join Barcelona but with the team in dire need of a defensive midfielder to replace the ageing duo of Arteta and Flamini, will they welcome Song with open arms even if Wenger yields to Henry’s advice?

AFCON 2015: Who wins Africa’s most prestigious diadem?

The 20th edition of the African Cup of Nations is well underway in faraway Equatorial Guinea and it’s living up to billing with the soccer artistry displayed so far by the participating teams.

Just like many football fans, having followed with keen interest some of the first round matches, I have not been disappointed so far.

Though it is quite unfortunate that Nigeria who won the last edition hosted by South Africa did not qualify to defend their title, but it makes it more interesting that this edition will produce a different winner.

Pre-tournament favorite, Ivory Coast has been tipped by book makers to clinch the title for the second time in their history and put an end to their perennial underachiever’s title. However, the display in their first match which ended one goal apiece against Guinea leaves a lot to be desired and clearly shows that they have a lot of work to do if they are to walk away with the title.
Google: Algeria national team
The Desert Foxes Algeria have made a strong start to the tournament with an emphatic 3-1 win over South Africa making a strong statement that they are not just in the tournament for a jamboree but to consolidate on their World cup performance by becoming the next African champion.

Four time winner, Ghana may have lost their opening match to Senegal but they remain a force to be reckoned with. With proper coordination and discipline, they stand a chance of clinching their 5th title.

Many may not consider Senegal and Cameroon as favorite for the title because of the shake ups that have pervaded their football in recent times but both teams, if history is anything to go by, have what it takes to conquer Africa once again. They have showed a lot of promises in their first match despite the fact that it ended in stalemate.

Host Equatorial Guinea is buoyed by massive home support and will definitely fancy their chances of winning the trophy for the first time on home soil. Zambia and South Africa who won the title when the ‘Super eagles’ failed to attend for one reason or the other are parading a youthful side and will love to win the trophy once again.

One thing is certain, come 8th of February, another champion will be crowned. Though it seems all the teams are evenly matched considering the number of draws recorded so far in the tournament but when the boys are separated from men in the latter stage of the competition, who will be the last team standing?

Is This Ayo Fayose’s Frontpage Advert For GEJ In Punch Right?

Is This Ayo Fayose’s Frontpage Advert For GEJ In Punch Right
Nigerian politics has reached a deteriorated stage whereby anything goes. Why would a sitting Governor sponsor this kind of advert?
Do you make mockery of the death of others president thereby insulting the position of the President Of The federal Republic of Nigeria just because you want to show unwavering loyalty to your boss?

The sad thing is we can all talk, the same president he is campaigning is no different from the tout that sponsored this ads.

The same president who said campaigning should be issue based was the same president throwing slurs at his opponent personality.

Woe betide that PDP remain in power come 2015 May 29 for we can as well bid Nigeria goodbye.

Change is what we need! And together we can achieve that and vote rascals out of office.

Buhari’s entire career based on falsehood - Femi Fani Kayode

PDP Presidential Campaign media director, Femi Fani Kayode says the inability of APC presidential flag bearer, Gen Buhari to produce his academic credentials to INEC indicates that his entire career in the military was based on falsehood, a situation he says brings to question the admission system into the army in the 1960s. FFK said this today while speaking to newsmen in Abuja

"It is disingenuous for Buhari to say that he contested previous elections and that the issue of his qualifications did not arise. Had INEC not complied with the Electoral Act this year, which requires that they paste the academic credentials of all the presidential candidates, Nigerians would have remained ignorant of the fact that Buhari has probably been submitting affidavits for the past elections. The fact that he got away with it in 2003, 2007 and 2011 does not make it right.

The minimum that Nigerians require from Buhari is the presentation of his secondary school certificate which enabled him to gain admission into the Nigerian Military College in 1962 and on which basis he became a commissioned officer of the Nigerian army. This forms the fulcrum for the subsequent courses that he attended as he rose in the army, including the US War College. Failure to produce that school certificate implies that Buhari’s entire career in the Army was based on falsehood which cannot stand. This brings to question the admission system/policy into the army in the early 1960s. Were the rules bent for certain individuals in fulfillment of the quota system?

Anyone that reads General Alabi Isama’s book, which was published last year, will know that this was the case. In fact, Alabi Isama went as far as to allege that some Nigerians were admitted into the military academy without the necessary qualifications like school certificate. We believe that Buhari was one of those people and this is why he is unable to produce his certificate. The truth is that he was never qualified for entry into the military academy in the first place and consequently he should never have become a commissioned officer let alone a man that rose to the rank of general. At best he ought to have remained a non-commissioned officer.

As long as he cannot produce that secondary school certificate, we believe that he is not qualified to run for the presidency of Nigeria. This is a matter of law and not sentiment. Buhari, just like any other Nigerian, must be compelled to abide by the law and he must prove his eligibility for the presidential election by simply producing his secondary school certificate.” he said

He tied the knot with a swollen eyes.

Bruised but not defeated. What a determined man.

Let's make it a fabulous 2015

WOW! So 2015 is here. A year many people have eagerly anticipated. 2014 may have come and gone with its own ups and down but the euphoria that greeted the happy new year celebration obviously shows that we all look to a better 2015.
Anyone who is a social media addict will agree to the fact that both the old and young is looking forward to a fruitful year. For some, this is the year to tie the knot, some wants a better job, start a relationship, buy a car, travel abroad etc. It is certain that 2015 will be a year of different strokes for different folks.
No matter what you set out to achieve this year, this is the time to start. A stitch in time saves nine. You have to put your hands on the plough and be determined not to look back. There is no doubt that challenges will come but you must be determined not to look back. Myles Munroe said "many of live challenges are those who do not realize how close they were to success when they gave up''. No matter the challenges, don't sink but be determined to stay afloat.
2015 holds a lot of positives for those who will confront it and make meaning out of it. It promises to be a great year for you and me but we have to be determined if we must make it a fabulous 2015.

#BRINGBACKOURGIRLS : MY THOUGHTS

In the dead of the night, they showed up. This time around,It was in a tiny town in Borno State called Chibok. Their mission was clearly defined and before the cock could crow, the unexpected had happened.
Unlike the Iyanya multiple blast,no life was lost but the country was shook to its foundation at the news that over two hundred girls had been abducted from their hostel by the Islamist terrorist group,Boko Haram.
It is now three weeks and counting, these missing girls are yet to be recovered. More disturbing is the fact that no one knows the precise location where the culprits have taken the girls to.
Though It is heart warming to know that the international community has come to the aid of Nigeria in helping her find the missing girls but how long can the parents of these girls be pacified to await the return of their children?
Just like the ‘free Nelson Mandela’ campaign in the 90s, the #BringBackOurGirls crusade has been massive not just in Nigeria but the world over. But unlike the Great Madiba story which was as a result of the fight for freedom,This is an irony which has done the image of Nigeria no good.
For me, the Government of the day should be fingered for not giving the issue of the abducted Borno school girls the utmost attention it deserves from the onset. So annoying is the fact that it also dilly dallied in accepting assistance from the international community until the situation started getting out of hand.
Now the media is filled with news that the captors have escaped with some of the abducted girls to Chad Republic. This again brings to fore the porous state of our boarders. One is tempted to ask if a country like ours with its military might lacks an aerial surveillance team who could check the activities of the captors especially when it was rumoured that they were hiding in the ‘Sambisa’ forest with the girls.
My thoughts goes out to parents and guardians of the abducted girls. Though there is hope for the sobbing parents that their children may one day return- at least the recently released footage of the abducted girls reciting Quran shows they are still alive- but are our leaders sympathetic enough to address the plight of the highly traumatised parents and guardians of the abducted girls?
Whatever becomes the outcome of this hide and seek game between Government and the captors of the Chibok girls, this #BringBackOurGirls saga will go a long way in revealing to generations unborn the ineptitude of those that ruled their fore fathers and how a group of people soiled the name of the country all in the name of religion.
