Arsenal legend Thiery Henry has advised Arsene Wenger to
re-sign Alex Song from Barcelona as he believes the ex-Arsenal man will help
boost the team’s performance as they push for a top 4 finish.
Henry who is currently a pundit with Sky Sports said Arsenal
need a strong defensive midfielder to shield the back four and he believes that
the Cameroonian is the right man for the job.
It will be recalled that Song left the Emirate stadium for
Nou Camp in 2012 but failed to impress and was loaned to West Ham United in
August 2014.
While making a case for Song who has impressed so far since
joining West Ham, Henry said he is the type of player you want in front of your
back four.
“Song is the captain of the boat. He protects the back four.
You need someone to dictate, put players into position, make little fouls by
kicking someone- like Claude Makalele used to do.”
Arsenal fans will not forget Song in a hurry after he left
unceremoniously to join Barcelona but with the team in dire need of a defensive
midfielder to replace the ageing duo of Arteta and Flamini, will they welcome
Song with open arms even if Wenger yields to Henry’s advice?
